I have a small topic I'd like to share here, since it's relevant to my novel-publishing project I am working on. It is about "God" and I'd love to see what people have to say on the subject, just as further study/insight/input. I would just like to ask anyone who reads further or comments to be as open-minded as possible since my novel involves a more philosophical look at God, rather than a religious one.

Alright, well... I, myself, am an agnostic, which is someone who doesn't know if God does or doesn't exist. Here's why: I cannot bring myself to believe or not believe in something ((or someone)) that cannot be defined. Every so often, the question will come up on philosophical discussion threads in a forum I visit, and every time, believers and atheists alike will say God cannot be defined.

With everything else in life, we always have to know what we're talking about exactly in order to gain an accurate opinion; a person learning about physics can't say if they agree or disagree with string theory unless they know what string theory means, right? Why is a belief/disbelief in God any different? I've heard a lot of believers say they have faith that God exists, but this doesn't overcome the question of what "God" even means to begin with.

I'll be honest... I wasn't really raised with any religion in particular. I'm multiracial and my family is very culturally diverse as well, and I've heard a lot of different ideas of what God even is, even among those who say they are of the same religious beliefs. God, by its very nature, is a confusing subject since there's so many different ideologies and opinions of who/what God is and what he/she/it is capable of doing. Can one really be more correct over the others? Well, yes, if there is a true definition, which nobody really seems to know, so I guess the answer is actually no?

This topic can definitely go a million different ways... which is why I find it a fascinating topic and using it as the inspiration for my novel ((I hate creating stories for the sake of creating stories... so I prefer have inspiring themes to help me get started instead. I find them to come out being cooler and more unique and interesting that way)). It's hard to cover it all in a single journal entry.

So what does everyone else think about "God"? Can God be defined? If he can be, or if you believe in him or claim to be an atheist, then how do you define him? Is God a sentient being? Is he all-powerful, or is he like Shinto's kami who are no more powerful or "perfect" than humans? If God is perfect, then what defines "perfect"? Or is he simply a human concept created by man as an anthropomorphic version of nature's force? Is he a mental disorder, just a voice in someone's head? Is he omniscient? Is he loving? Is he evil? Is he demanding? Or is he just bored?? Is he a creator or just someone who manages another god's creation? Can he create a rock he cannot lift? Is he even physical? Or... is everyone God and the world is nothing more than a creation of our own minds??? There's a million ways to look at God...
